Plans Submitted for Hillingdon Water Sports Facility and Activity Centre

Haverstock is pleased to share that the planning application for the Hillingdon Water Sports Facility and Activity Centre (HWSFAC) has now been submitted.

The proposal will deliver a unique, multi-use resource for water- and land-based outdoor activities, including replacement facilities for Broadwater Sailing Club and HOAC, a youth educational charity providing outdoor learning opportunities for young people, particularly those who are disadvantaged or disabled.

Located beside Broadwater Lake within the Mid Colne Valley Site of Special Scientific Interest, the scheme is ecologically led, prioritising the retention and enhancement of local biodiversity. Part of the site will operate as a field studies centre, encouraging young people to engage with and learn from the natural environment

The centre is organised into three sensitively embedded built forms that respond to the existing landscape.

The main building, the ‘Operation Zone’, acts as the hub of the site, housing the main office, changing facilities and flexible congregation spaces, including provision for accessible indoor camping.

Opposite, the ‘Safety Zone’ accommodates equipment storage and workshop spaces to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facility. The third and smallest structure, the ‘Camp Zone’, sits at the edge of the camping area and provides WCs, changing facilities and an activity shelter, allowing campers to be self-sufficient and gather under cover.
