The Orpheus Centre Model

Our recently completed architectural model for the New Education Campus at The Orpheus Centre illustrates our plans for a space rooted in landscape, inclusivity and creativity.

The extension to this thriving education centre is based in the National Landscape of The Surrey Hills, and is carefully arranged to sit comfortably within its setting, inspired by local forms and materials, complementing the existing listed structures.

The campus is devised around a series of connected volumes, centred around a social courtyard, utilising The Orpheus Centre’s natural setting. The new spaces will offer specialist provisions for performance, art and media production to support students to develop their talents in a nurturing, fully inclusive setting.

A perspective view of the model, facing north. From this angle, more of the materiality can be seen, engraved into the wooden model. The facades of the building take inspiration from the local vernacular with the ground floor clad in brickwork and the first floor and pitched roofs clad in corten steel.

We’re hugely proud to contribute to a project that strengthens such an important charity and helps shape a more inclusive cultural future.

A view of the model depicting the proposed New Education Centre, the view is facing northwest. The existing thatched barn is to the left of the frame in a lighter wood, while the new centre is in a darker red-toned wood.
