Haverstock wins Open City 'Champions of Play Award'

Haverstock is excited to share that our model, created in collaboration with students as part Open City Young City Makers programme, ‘The School of Play’ won the Champions of Play Award!

With the theme of ‘PLAY’ this year, we presented students with a brief to design a playful school for everyone with key themes of accessibility, inclusivity and flexibility. Overcoming the confines of the site, the students designed an experimental, flexible, fold down building, demonstrating the adaptive nature of this school, with multipurpose spaces and a transformative school of play.Their model has resulted in a truly adventurous design that blurs rigid boundaries between places and encourages play for all users.

elements that can be folded up so the model can be easily transported

Being part of Open City’s YCM programme this year has been an amazing experience! Giving students the chance to engage directly with the practical aspects of architecture and understand their role as vital stakeholders in the built environment has been rewarding for both them and us as tutors. A special thanks to Nissen RIchards Studio who we collaborated with on this project!
